What is NEET?

NEET is an acronym for "Not in Education, Employment, or Training" and is a person who is unemployed and not receiving an education or vocational training at that time.

The legislation states that all individuals are encouraged to continue with education or training until the age of 18. After completing year 11 (around age 16), you have various options available to you.

While the law does permit working after year 11, it's important to remember that participation in education or training must continue alongside your work commitments. It is recommended that you complete a total of 280 hours of learning each year, with the goal of earning a qualification.

Additionally, you might consider volunteering while also engaging in part-time study. This can provide valuable work experience and help you develop new skills that will be beneficial for your future.
