  • Would you like to know how your child or young person should be supported with their education?

    What is SEN support and how should your child or young person’s nursery, school or college implement this? 

    The session will be hosted by one of our SSENDIAS officers where you will have the opportunity to ask any questions.

    On this session we will cover:

    ·       The myth of needing a diagnosis to get support!

    ·       What is SEN support and the graduated approach?

    ·       What is provision and outcomes?

    ·       What are Sheffield’s local policies?

    ·       How to have the conversations about SEN support

    ·       When should this be reviewed?

  • Have you been advised to apply for an EHC Plan?

    Wondering if or when you should request a EHC needs assessment?

    This session will be hosted by one of our SSENDIAS officers where you will have the opportunity to ask any questions.

    On this session we will cover:

    ·       What happens in an EHC needs assessment?

    ·       Options of how to make the request

    ·       Should I speak to nursery, school or college first?

    ·       What must a Local Authority consider when making the decision to carry out a needs assessment.

    ·       What are Sheffield’s local policies for a request?

    ·       Timelines for obtaining an EHC Plan

    ·       Options if the Local Authority do not agree to carry out an assessment or issue a plan.

    Would you like to understand what each section should contain?

    The session will be hosted by one of our SSENDIAS officers where you will have the opportunity to ask any questions.

    On this session we will cover:

    ·       What to do when you receive a draft plan

    ·       What is each section and what should they contain?

    ·       Timelines for making comments/ representations about the draft EHC Plan

    ·       What are my options if I disagree with the final EHC Plan?

    ·       When should the EHC Plan be reviewed?

  • Have you received a final EHC Plan which you disagree with the content?

    Would you like to know what your options are?

    The session will be hosted by one of our SSENDIAS officers where you will have the opportunity to ask any questions.

    On this session we will cover:

    ·       Time limits for appealing

    ·       Mediation

    ·       Extended powers appeals (health & social Care sections)

    ·       Understanding the appeal forms

    ·       The appeal timetable.

    ·       What is case management?

    ·       What is a working document?

  • Learn more about your options following a decision from the local authority about an EHC plan

    This session is for parents, carers and young people who have received a decision from the LA about an EHC plan.

    This session will be split into two parts. You can come to either or both parts, whichever is more relevant to you:

    Part 1 (10am-11am) - LA decisions and your options

    This will cover:

    • Looking at decisions that can challenged through mediation and/ or tribunal

    • What your options are

    • Timescales

    Part 2 (11am-12pm) - What is mediation?

    This part of the session will specifically cover:

    • What mediation is

    • What to expect from a mediation meeting

  • This session is for parents who want to know more about going to mediation for decisions around EHC plans, such as:

    · Refusal to conduct an EHC needs assessment

    · Refusal to issue an EHC plan

    · EHC content

    · Cease to maintain EHC plan

    This session will specifically cover:

    • What mediation is

    • What to expect from a mediation meeting

    • How to prepare to a mediation meeting

  • This session is for parents who are considering lodging an appeal with the SEND Tribunal

    This session is for parents, carers and young people who are considering lodging an appeal to the SEND Tribunal.

    This session will be split into two parts, and you can come to either or both parts, whichever is more relevant to you. If you are not sure, please get in touch with us.

    Part 1 (10am-11am) - completing a SEND 35 form

    This form is used if and of these decisions have been made and you disagree:

    • the local authority refused to make an EHC plan

    • the local authority refused to secure a reassessment of EHC needs

    • you disagree with something written in Section B, F or I of the EHC plan

    • the local authority decided a plan is no longer necessary

    Part 2 (11am-12pm) - completing a SEND 35a form

    This form is used when the local authority have refused to conduct an EHC needs assessment

  • This session is for parents who have an upcoming Tribunal hearing and want to find out more

    This session is for parents, carers and young people who have an upcoming Tribunal hearing

    The session will cover:

    • Discuss paperwork- such as case directions, case review forms, tribunal orders, request for change forms.

    • What to expect in a hearing

    • Who will contact you and who do you need to contact

    • Parents/ Carers and Young Peoples responsibility and the SSENDIAS Role

    • Q&A session
